Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Fri, July 31, 2009 - 1:26 PMhey you, long time no see:=)
i'm with state farm, and the yearly premium for the rv is only $33....though we have all our vehicles with them so this may help on the pricing.
as for claims.....they paid a towing bill on the rv with no hassle, and when our car was stolen, they paid out within days, and did'nt lowball on the value of the vehicle (if anything, they paid more than it was actually worth)
other people's MMV.
10 days for me until i hit the playa........eeeek!!!!!!! -

Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Fri, July 31, 2009 - 4:09 PMHi Sexy!!!!
Thanks for the thoughts! That's a great deal. I've had great interactions with State Farm.
I already have a call into a friend of mine who's been their agent for decades. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good quote!
..........And I can tell you right now...... ESURANCE sucks BIG TIME. They drag out payment for a long, long time... for example medpay to use for medical expenses *immediately* after the accident.... you are more likely to hear from the med bill collectors that you will from them!!! -

Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Fri, July 31, 2009 - 9:53 PMWe use Drive by Progressive - cost about $275 for a $35,000 Class B and so far have had no claims so can't compare that part.
Their rates were a lot cheaper than Farmers that insure all our other vehicles plus house. -

Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Sun, August 2, 2009 - 11:56 AMI started with GMAC insurance first offered by Good Sam. They tried to rip me off several ways.
I went to progressive and have stayed with them since. I've had them for the last few years without any incidents. -

Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Sun, August 2, 2009 - 12:02 PMI have used Progressive and Auto Club. Right now I am on Auto Club because they insure all types of vehicles, and I get a pretty good discount by putting all of them on one policy.
I have never made a claim, so I can't speak to that. However, I have used Progressive for roadside assistance, and the service was excellent. The terms of my auto club coverage is a bit better though, as it includes unlimited mileage for two tows per year. You can get that auto club roadside assistance with unlimited mileage towing without buying their insurance though.
If I had unlimited mileage when I used the Progressive roadside assistance, I would not have left my rig 300 miles from home for a couple of weeks while they got the parts. I would have had it towed to a place near my home, which would have saved me 600 miles of driving in two vehicles to pick it up when it was repaired. -

Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Tue, August 4, 2009 - 12:26 PMI agree GMAC is a ripoff. I had a bad experience with their billing that left me with a gap in coverage. They fucked up and I was buying a new car that week, so I had a gap in coverage. I went to another company and GMAC refused to give me a full refund.
Drive by Progressive seems to be a milage based policy (like what isn't?) What is interesting is that they want to stick devices on vehicles that not only track where a vehicle is, but also track your driving habits. Hello big brother!! Now legal in 15 states.
When you refer to auto club, Bingo, I assume you are referring to AAA? I'll check into both that and Progressive. Thanks!
If anyone has had claims or billing issues with Progressive regardless of the amount involved, I'd be interested in knowing.
Again STAY AWAY from eSurance. Shame on you if you do business with a CARTOON CHARACTER!!! -

Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Thu, October 1, 2009 - 7:27 PMI just found out the hard way that State Farm quoted me $350 for a 6 month policy.
I bought it and then they doubled it. Apparently the girl managing the quote failed to explain unless both cars are with them, my RV is charged as a primary. So the monthly cost went from $57 to 104. MORONS!!
And Paul was paying $33 for a multi-car policy... I figured $57 was primary. I'll try Progressive. Thanks for input on this. -

Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Thu, October 1, 2009 - 10:31 PMI use Foremost. It may be a division of Farmers, not certain. I pay $133 for 12 months. It is the only vehicle they cover for me. I have a 30' class A and a good driving record. -

Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Mon, October 5, 2009 - 12:06 AMI use Foremost as well, but through Geico and pay pretty much the same, about 260/yr -
-
Re: Insurance for RV (good and bad reviews)
Mon, October 5, 2009 - 9:09 PMI don't think 260/yr is the same as $133 / yr. :) And yes, mine is per year. You made me go and check.
